Event Details
Join us for a free, three-part series about nutrition, meal planning, and food preparation skills! We will learn how to reduce calories, control carbohydrates, modify fat, and increase fiber in our daily food intake. Those affected by diabetes can also achieve better blood glucose and blood pressure control.
The 3 session dates are:
- Wednesday, Sept 10th at 6:30pm
- Wednesday, Sept 17th at 6:30pm
- Wednesday, Sept 24th at 6:30pm
By the end of this series, you will be able to:
- prepare recipes and plan meals that are reduced in fat, sugar, and sodium and are higher in fiber
- use the Plate Method to plan meals
- use artificial sweeteners appropriately
- modify fat intake to reduce cardiovascular disease risk
- control blood pressure
- use herbs and spices to reduce sodium intake
- increase their intake of fruits and vegetables
- use nutrition labels to choose healthier foods
- control portions
